300 feared killed in Boko Haram fresh attack in Borno state



About three hundred people are feared killed in a broad day attack on Gamboru-Ngala, local area almost 200km from maiduguri the Borno State capital.

The massacre was said to have occurred after a broad day attack on Monday by suspected Boko Haram insurgents who eye witnesses allege invaded the community in large numbers, shooting their victims and dropping explosives on their trails.

 

The attack, which started at about 11am that fateful day, dragged on till evening as soldiers of the Nigerian Army engaged the attackers in a deadly shootout.

Intelligence sources, which sought anonymity, confirmed the incidence to newsmen but could not give the exact causality

 

"Many people have been killed or injured. They attacked and burnt many homes and even security posts, the main market, local government offices and homes. Many may have died, hundreds, because the shooting was everywhere. They surrounded the place in a commando style and shot into people's homes" said the source
