ASUP: Adeboye appeals to FG, unions to shift ground

Pastor Folu Adeboye, Wife of the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, has called for amicable resolution of the ongoing strike by polytechnics and colleges of education lecturers.

Adeboye made the call in Abuja on Tuesday while inaugurating a building complex at the Redeemers Private Secondary School , Lugbe, Abuja.

Represented by Pastor Joseph kolaolaode, Pastor in-Charge of Region 10, FCT 1, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Adeboye called on the Federal Government and the lecturers to sheath their swords for a lasting solution to be achieved on the matter.

"We are appealing to the Federal Government to resolve the issue urgently for the sake of the future of our children in the polytechnic system by having a dialogue with the lecturers.

"We are also telling our students and our lecturers that the demand of the lecturers might not be met 100 per cent.

"We need the lecturers in the two institutions to come to a round table and dialogue with government so that our education sector can move forward.

She said that the strike would not help the future of Nigerian children and the image of the nation, adding: "this is why we are appealing to both sides."

Adeboye said there were many challenges in the education system, and urged the government to take action to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

She said that the challenge of insurgency would be a thing of the past if the right education was imparted on Nigerian youths.
