Mother Identifies Her Daughter In Boko Haram Video showing Abducted Girls

Boko Haram Video Proves True As Mother Identifies Her Daughter
Parent-teachers association chairman at Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, Dumoma Mpur said one of the girls in a Boko Haram video has been identified by her mother.

A screen capture taken from the latest Boko Haram video shows the alleged kidnapped girls dressed in hijabs and praying in an undisclosed rural location.

According to her, the mother watched the video on television on Monday evening and saw her daughter among someof the kidnapped girls wearing hijabs and reciting parts of the Qur'an in an unknown rural location.

"The video got parents apprehensive again after watching it but the various steps taken by the governments and the coming of the foreign troops is boosting our spirit, even though I have not seen one soldier in Chibok yet," Mpur told Reuters by telephone on Tuesday.

However, Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima ordered on May 12 for mass production of the video to enable parents identify their children.

According to previous reports, some of the parents could not identify their daughters in the video.

Boko Haram issued the video on Monday. The rebels' leader Abubakar Shekau said in the video that majority of the girls have converted to Islam and those who did not could be exchanged for the insurgents held in various prisons across Nigeria.

More than 200 school have been abducted by Boko Haram on April 14. Some managed to escape while others are still missing.
