No fewer than 11 persons were Thursday evening feared dead, while eight persons sustained serious injuries in an auto crash along Ile-Ife/Ondo road.
Police sources said the accident was caused by reckless driving and over speeding by drivers of a Toyota camry car and a bus.
It was learnt that one of the tyres of the Toyota Camry car bursted and lost direction till it crashed with a commercial bus from the opposite direction.
Two vehicles were said to have been completely razed.
The accident which occured at the boundary of Osun and Ondo states, eye witness said affected free flow of traffic on the busy road for several hours.
A Police source hinted that eight of the passengers in the bus
including a toddler sustained serious injuries, while 11 others were feared dead.
It was learnt that the victims of the accident were rushed to the
Trauma hospital in Ondo town where some of them are still receiving medical treatment.
Some victims of the accident were reportedly burnt
beyond recognition, while corpses of the dead passengers have been
deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ondo.
The State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO)Wole Ogodo could not be reached for comments as at the press time.
