FG forces telecom companies to increase data tarrifs

Telecoms giant MTN in a broadcast message to its subscribers declared will from December 1 increase data tariffs.
In a message to subscribers: “Dear customer, please be informed that from 1st Dec, some MTN data tariffs will be increased to reflect the new rates set by the NCC to operators. Thank you.”

Nigeria’s telecommunication giant, MTN, has decided to increase the prices of internet subscription for consumers as mandated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Adebayo Shittu, the minister of Communication, had defended the proposed 10 percent tax on phone calls, text messages and data saying it would help enhance telecommunication services in the country.
