The Rivers State Police has said at least seven police officers have been confirmed dead after Friday attack on the police.
The police states that the gunmen opened fire on a checkpoint, then drove to two police stations, killing officers and burning patrol cars.
The police has began a manhunt after killing two of the gunmen during the attack.
Police spokesperson Nnamdi Omoni said "unidentified armed men, driving a Toyota Hilux van, launched their "surprise assault" on the checkpoint at Choba Bridge at around 20:30 local time (19:30 BST) on Friday,"
