Metuh either returns N400m or rots in Jail – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says the continued detention of the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is due to his unwillingness to admit guilt and return the ‘over N400 million’ he allegedly received from embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki just like the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jafaru Isa who was released.

According to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, there is no truth in claims that the anti-corruption crusade was a witchhunt of leaders of the opposition PDP.

Breaking News: Copies of 2016 budget stolen from National Assembly

It was surprising to hear that the hard and soft copies of the 2016 budget documents handed to a joint session of the national assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari on December 22, 2015 have been missing.

The Nigerian Senate was scheduled to commence deliberation on the proposed budget on Tuesday, 12 January.

But to the amazement of everyone at a closed-door session in the red chamber, Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, revealed that the budget documents had been stolen.

How I Shared The N260 Million Dasuki Paid Into My Personal Bank Account -Tony Anenih

Ex- PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) Chair Tony Anenih has explained how he disbursed the N260 million paid into his bank account from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The EFCC believes the cash came from the allegedly misappropriated $2.1 billion arms funds.

Anenih wrote to the EFCC to state, among others, that he gave N63 million to a group coordinated by a former Special Assistant to former President Shehu Shagari (National Assembly Liaison), Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, for the 2015 presidential election.

A former Special Assistant to former President Shehu Shagari, Tanko Yakassai has confirmed that he and 8 other prominent Northern leaders received N53 million from former PDP board of trustee Chairman, Tony Anenih meant for advocacy for the party during the 2015 presidential election.

Tony Anenih in a letter to EFCC stated that he collected N260 million from the office of the former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki and gave N53 million to Tanko Yakasai's group.
