Faleke should accept outcome of Kogi election as the will of God -Yahaya Bello

The Kogi State governor-elect, Yahaya Bello, has urged party man and the running-mate of late Abubakar Audu, James Faleke to accept the outcome of the state election as the will of God.
He said he would not join issues with him over Kogi governorship election crisis.

Following the declaration of Mr. Bello as governor-elect on Sunday, Mr. Faleke said he would not take oath of office as deputy governor.

Mr. Bello’s reaction is contained in a statements issued on Tuesday in Abuja by his media assistant, Suleiman Abdulmalik.

US condemns use of girls in suicide attacks

Abuja - The United States has again rebuked the Boko Haram sect for using children to carry out suicide bomb attacks.
The condemnation follows the and indiscriminate attacks at the Jambutu Mosque in Yola, Adamawa State, the Central Mosque of Polo Ward in Maiduguri, Borno State, and other locations in Maiduguri this past weekend.

Breaking: Adeyeye Ogunwusi Is New Ooni Of Ife

Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi is New Ooni of ife.
His appointment was announced in a press statement by the Government of Osun state moments ago.
The Statement was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti.
The statement reads: “The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has approved the appointment of a new Ooni of Ife. He is Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi of the Giesi Ruling House of Ile Ife State of Osun.
This choice follows the completion of the due process by the kingmakers and the communication of their decision to the Government.”

Breaking: Tribunal sacks Wike as Rivers Governor

The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal has Nullified the election that brought in Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State.

The tribunal, which delivered its ruling in Abuja on Saturday, also ordered that a fresh governorship election be conducted in the state within 90 days.

Octogenarian Rescued From Lagos Collapsed Building Dies

The 89-year-old grandmum, Mrs Mistura Amodu, rescued few hours after the collapsed Odunfa, Lagos building on Wednesday, died at the General Hospital, Lagos at around 05:00pm on Wednesday.
According to The Nation, a family member, who was with her when she breathe her last, said Maami, as she was fondly called, was hale and hearty after she was rescued from the debris of the building.

Man jumps over Obalende bridge, dies instantly

An unknown man on Thursday jumped over the Obalende Bridge, Lagos, at about 6:30pm and died instantly, on sighting operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences, thinking that they were after him.
It was gathered that, Taskforce Officials stormed Obalende to enforce the law on Environmental Sanitation when the incident occurred.

70-year-old man arrested for impersonating Buhari’s adviser

Police in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested a 70-year-old man, Adamu Sule, who was impersonating as the Special Adviser to the President on Defence Matters.

The police said Sule who specialises in defrauding influential people was arrested at a house in Maitama area of Abuja where he claimed to have met a former governor.

A statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Manzah Anjuguri, on Monday said police detectives arrested Sule following a tip-off last Sunday.

Pistorius Released Under House Arrest

South African Olympic and Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been released under house arrest nearly one year after he was jailed for killing his girlfriend, prison officials say.
He is expected to spend the remainder of a five-year prison sentence at his uncle’s home in Pretoria.
He shot Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door in 2013 but said he thought she was an intruder.
Ms Steenkamp’s relatives say they think Pistorius is “getting off lightly”.

The student identified as Oluchi Anekwe met her untimely death in front of the popular New Hall in campus.

Nigeria Afro Hip hop stars, Psquare on Sunday escaped accident on their way from a show in lbadan.

The star and their crews were returning from a performance in Ibadan before the accident occurred along lagos-Ibadan Express Way.

According to Peter on his Instagram page @peterpsquare "fans help us thank God. Myself @rudeboypquare, @Papiijemeh and our assistant manager had an accident. A lorry hit and dragged our car for over 12 seconds on our way from a show in Ibadan. ."

A man identified as Gbenga Ogundana has committed suicide in his rented apartment on Orisunmibare Street, in the Cultural Centre area of Ondo Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

It was gathered that the man committed suicide days after losing his job.

IGP redeploys 19 AIGs, 49 CPs

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase has approved the redeployment of 19 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 49 Commissioners of Police.

The death of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has been surrounded by controversies and intrigues.
The palace officially announced the monarch’s death on August 12, Wednesday.
The Royal Traditional Council of Ife maintained that the Oba is alive and in good health for two weeks after reports about his death surfaced.While controversy rages about the Abobaku, who has reportedly run away after the death of the monarch, Lanre Akintilo commented on his Facebook account about what now happens with the trusted stewards of the Obas.

Israeli Jailed for 14 months over Madonna Hack

An Israeli man has been jailed for 14 months in Tel Aviv for hacking the computers of singers including Madonna.

Adi Lederman, 39, was arrested in January after an investigation assisted by the FBI.
Under a plea bargain, Mr Lederman confessed to computer trespassing, infringement of privacy and property rights.

SHOCKING: 11 fear dead in Ondo auto Crash

No fewer than 11 persons were Thursday evening feared dead, while eight persons sustained serious injuries in an auto crash along Ile-Ife/Ondo road.

Police sources said the accident was caused by reckless driving and over speeding by drivers of a Toyota camry car and a bus.

Buhari rejects N400 million armoured Mercedes Benz proposal

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected a proposal to purchase five new armoured Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use at a cost of about N400 million. 

 He was told of the proposal by the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Nebolisa Emodi at a briefing on Wednesday.

Jonathan’s govt response to Chibok girls kidnap was unimpressive and unfortunate - Buhari

President Muhammed Buhari today while receiving members of the Bring Back Our Girls group at the state house said the response from the past administration immediately after the Chibok girls were kidnapped was very unimpressive and unfortunate.

He said it portrayed Nigeria in bad light in the international community.
We cannot rationalize the government’s incompetence in handling this issue,” he said.

BOKO HARAM: 160, 000 Nigerians take refuge in Niger, Chad and Cameroon - UNFPA

The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) has disclosed that about 160,000 Nigerians have fled the north eastern parts of the country seeking refuge in neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

This is contained in a statement signed by Kori Habib, UNFPA Media Associate in Nigeria as part of activities to mark the 2015 World Population Day scheduled for July 11.

Buhari approves N400billion for State Workers Over Unpaid Salaries

President Buhari has endorsed a three-pronged relief package that will end the workers plight by ordering the sharing of about $2.1 billion (N413.7 billion) in fresh allocation between the states and the federal government.

The money is to be sourced, with presidential approval, from the recent Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) proceeds paid into the federation account.

Army  Chief, Lt. Col. Kenneth Minimah has called on soldiers fighting the Boko Haram insurgency to win the war as a mark of honor for their colleagues who died in the course of the war.

 The Chief of Army Staff who was addressing soldiers at the graveyards of the fallen heroes of the ongoing war against the Boko Haram insurgents at the  wreath laying ceremony to mark   this year Army Day Celebration which was shifted to Maiduguri,  the theater  of war  of the Boko Haram counter-insurgency  war said; "The only way to honour our officers and men who lie ahead of me is to ensure that this war is won and I promise that we will win this war”.

Portugal Club Celebrates Late Rashidi Yekini

The Late Legendary prolific striker for the National team, Rashidi Yekini was celebrated in Portugal today, having played for VICTORIA SETUBA FOOTBALL CLUB. Thet legendary Striker died on May 4, 2012.

Yekini scored 37 goals as a Nigerian international, and represented the nation in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country's first-ever goal in the competition. He was also named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.

Police to quiz Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu over ‘forged’ Senate rules

How Police Arrested Ikorodu Bank Robbers

Boko Haram Slaughters 11 Runaway Members In Borno village

Some angry Boko Haram members allegedly sneaked into Miringa Village in Borno State and slaughtered at least 11 people for allegedly renouncing their membership of the sect, sources have said.

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) disclosed this on Friday in Maiduguri.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Director General of the State Security Service, Ita Ekpenyong.

In his place, the President appointed Lawal Musa Daura as new head of the agency, which serves as Nigeria’s secret police.

Ojo Boat Mishap: Lagos Sympathises With Families of Victims

The Lagos State Government on Thursday commiserated with families of six pupils who drowned when a fibre boat conveying them to school was hit by a motorised boat within the Ebute Ojo waterways in Ojo Local Government area Wednesday. 

In a joint press briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Managing Director of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Mr. Yinka Marinho described the incident as unfortunate, saying that the incident occurred despite government’s increasing efforts to make the waterways safe for residents.
