Why My Academic Credentials Are Not Presented To INEC - Buhari

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his academic qualifications and credentials are with the military.

A visit by journalists to the headquarters of the commission on Monday in Abuja revealed that Buhari’s academic qualifications were not on display, unlike those of other Presidential candidates, including President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party.But in an affidavit, which he deposed to at a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, he explained that all his certificates were with the Secretary, Military Board.The affidavit dated November 24, 2014, was stamped and received by INEC on December 18 2014.“I am the above-named person and deponent to this affidavit therein. All my academic qualifications documents as filled in my presidential form, President APC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary, Military Board as of the time of presenting this affidavit. The affidavit is made in good faith and for record purpose,” Buhari stated.

Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo had also told INEC that his Bachelors and Masters’ degree certificates in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, had been consumed by fire.Sambo, who is the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, had made the declaration in the documents he filed with INEC and displayed on the commission’s office in Abuja, even though the details of the fire that consumed the certificates were not given.

Sambo’s papers were received and stamped by the INEC between December 10 and 18, 2014 and validated by two letters from the ABU.

Influx Of People At Ikeja Electrical Distribution Company Over Issues With Pre-Paid Metres

The Ikeja Electrical Distribution Company for over four days has been witnessing influx of people over various issues on pre-Paid Metres.

Some of the customer said they experienced black out during yhe Christmas festival because they where unable to load units on their metres.

"Am here because I want to celebrate my new year with electricity in my house." Said a customer.

Others said they are the power company to upgrade the metre. While some are there to recharge their metres.

Bode Goerge, Agbaje rigged Lagos PDP primary - Obanikoro tells court


Musiliu Obanikoro, a People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant has accused a chieftain of PDP in Lagos State, Chief Olabode George, and the winner of the party’s governorship primary, Jimi Agbaje of manipulating the election that made Agbaje the party's flag bearer in 2015.

Obanikoro, in an affidavit he filed with the suit he initiated against the election, alleged that George and Agabje deliberately disrupted proceedings at the election venue, using thugs and state security officers to achieve their aim.

Okonjo-Iweala Presents 2015 Budget to National Assembly



Nigeria's Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has presented the 2015 budget estimate to be about N4.3trillion before the National Assembly.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday condemned the terrorists attacks on Peshawar which resulted in the loss of over 140 lives in Pakistan.

Mutiny: Army Sentenced 54 Soldiers to Death by Firing Squad, Discharged Five

Nigerian Army court martial has sentenced 54 soldiers to death by firing squad while five have been discharged and acquitted. 

Details of the sentencing were sketchy early this evening. Their offences too, had not been made public.

The sentences were however handed down at the Mogadishu Barracks, also called the Army Headquarters Garrison, Abacha Barracks, Abuja.

Buhari Presents Yemi Osibajo As Running Mate For 2015 Presidential Election

Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) , Muhammadu Buhari  present former Attorney general of Lagos State, Yemi Osibajo as  his running mate for the 2015 presidential election. The short ceremony featured party leaders at the APC secretariat  in Abuja  today.
The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun has earlier said that Buhari will make his running mate known by December 17th.
"The party has consulted with the candidate and had reached agreement and he will address you tomorrow,” Chief Oyegun told newsmen.
According to INEC election guidelines, the APC has Thursday December 18th to announce its Presidential and vice presidential candidates which the party as done.

Oil Workers Begin Nationwide Strike



The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) will today (Monday) begin a nationwide strike action against the non-passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

Its Spokesman, Babatunde Oke, in a statement said that oil workers have been mobilized to protest the inability of the National Assembly to pass the PIB.

Jonathan, West African Leaders To Deliberate On Regional Security


President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will Monday in Abuja host the 46th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government which will, among other things, deliberate on the current political and security situation in the sub-region.

New N100 banknote To Be In Circulation December 19

‎SHOCKER: Girl's headless body found in Osun


An headless body of an unidentified  young girl has been found in Magaji area of Iwo in Osun State.

The discovery has caused palpable scare in the ancient town as many residents could not go out during the night.

Twin bomb explosion rocks Jos


Twin bomb explosions occured in Terminus areas of Jos, the Plateau state capital. 

The two explosions were heard in two minutes interval and about the same locations the last bomb attack occurred on May 20th this year.

The explosion occurred at about 6.45pm, this made it difficult to ascertain the level of casualties.

Okorocha Picks Imo APC Governorship Ticket After Losing Presidential Ticket

General Mohammadu Buhari, has emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate after a two-day convention held in Lagos.

Buhari polled 3,430 votes to get his party’s ticket. Kano state governor, Dr Rabiu Kwankwanso and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar got 974 and 954 votes respectively, while Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha got 624, the publisher of Leadership Newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah scored 10 votes as 16 voided votes were recorded.

Akala Emerges Labour Party governorship candidate


Former Oyo State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala today, Wednesday emerged the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the state.

His emergence followed the decision of other aspirants to withdraw from the primaries.
Those that withdrew from the governorship race are Sarafadeen Alli, Nurudeen Aknyo, Kazeem Adedeji, Olu Abiala and Olatunji Sadeeq.

The aspirants gave in to Alao-Akala, choosing the leading aspirant before the former governor's arrival, Alli, as his running mate.

Akala had on Monday ditched the Peoples Democratic Party for the LP. This was shortly after the emergence of former Senate Leader, Teslim Kolawole Folarin, as the candidate of the PDP.
In his acceptance speech, Akala, who thanked the aspirants for their love, expressed his readiness to work with all of them to ensure victory for the LP in the state.
