Pastor makes members drink Dettol, says God instructs him

A South African cleric, Prophet Rufus Phala has made his church members drink disinfectant, Dettol, in order to get healed.

Phala, a pastor with AK Spiritual Christian Church, Makgodu, Limpopo in the north eastern area of South Africa, instructed his followers to drink the disinfectant, while also acknowledging that it was dangerous to do so.

Female suicide bombers kill 30 in Adamawa market

No fewer than 30 persons were killed and 67 injured after two teenage female suicide bombers blew themselves up at Madagali Market in Adamawa on Friday morning.

Sony unveils first smartphone games for launch in 2017

The electronics giant Sony has announced the first games from its Playstation franchise to be launched for smartphones. Part of the ForwardWorks company established earlier this year to expand the Playstation world to mobile devices, the new games will launch from spring next year in Japan, for both iOS and Android devices.
At a press conference in Tokyo, Sony said it's working on mobile versions of popular PlayStation games such as 'Everybody golfs,' 'Wild Arms', 'Arc the Lad', 'What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord?' and 'Parappa the Rapper'. It's also working with other game developers such as Square Enix and Gree on new titles.

The games were unveiled along with a new slate that can connect to game cards to a tablet or phone.

66 OAU students bag first class as 6,827 graduate

Out of the Six thousand eight hundred and twenty seven (6,827) students  who graduated at the 42nd convocation ceremony of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 66 students graduated with first class another 1,305 had second class upper and 2,127 graduated with second class lower.

Late Kano NYSC member, Ifedayo died of Renal sepsis

Report has given it that the late Oladepo Ifedapo Rachael, a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member of the 2016 Batch ‘B’, who died in Kano during orientation, died of renal sepsis occasioned by infection.

This was coming as the Federal Government warned the serving and prospective NYSC members against hiding information from government officials to ensure their total safety while serving their fatherland.

Pres Buhari to present 2017 budget December 14

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday asked the Senate to grant him Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 to present the 2017 Appropriation Bill to the joint session of the National Assembly.

FUTA recalls 23 suspended union leaders

The management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State yesterday recalled its 23 suspended labour union leaders.

Customs intercepts container with Jollof rice, Egusi soup, Yam porridge from India

The Tin-Can Island command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed how it intercepted a 20ft container of "ready to eat Nigerian foods".
NAN reports that the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Bashar Yusuf, revealed that ready-to-eat Nigerian foods like Egusi soup, jollof rice, ogbono and yam porridge being imported from India into Nigeria, were intercepted.
Yusuf spoke with stakeholders at the SDV/SCOA Terminal while handing over the container of imported prepared foods to officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The controller described the scenario as an “aberration”, considering the fact that government granted zero duty for the importation of machinery for the packaging of agricultural products. “Why should indigenous menu be imported into the country at a time when investors are much sought after to boost local industries,’’ Yusuf queried.

Istifanus Bello Gurama, a senior strategist with Dangote Industries Limited, who was reportedly kidnapped three weeks ago, has been murdered.

FRSC denies claims that its officers now carry arms

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a statement to dissociate itself from the rumours making rounds that the Corps has distributed arms to its Officers and Men, and calls on Nigerians to disregard such claims as there is no basis of truth in it.

Former Minister, Bola Kuforiji-Olubi, dies at 80

A former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Bola Kuforiji-Olubi, has died. She died in Lagos yesterday at the age of 80.

Born on September 28th 1936, the deceased who was onetime ICAN president, graduated from the University of London in 1963. She was appointed the first female chairman of the United Bank for Africa, UBA in 1984 by President Buhari who was a military Head of State.
